If you would like to experience the traditional Dubai lifestyle from the mid 19th century untill the 1970s, visit the Al-Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood (located along the Dubai Creek). The streets still show the originial infrastructure and give you the ultimate Middle East feeling.

The Al Fahidi district also has several restaurants with traditional food (read all about traditional food in my next post), cultural activities, museums, art galleries, special events and my favorite hotspot on the picture above: the Arabian Teahouse.
Close to Al Fahidi, is the Al Seef area which is nice to combine during a walk together with the Al Bastakiya district. This is one of the newest, upcoming attractions with 3 hotels ons site: Curio, Canopy & Hampton Al Seef. And believe me, if you want the traditional experience, stay in heritage hotel Curio (picture below).Tip: if you're just here for a day trip, you can also lunch in one of these hotels or restaurants after you have walked the historical neighbourhood route, Al Seef is the perfect area to end your tour.

Al Seef is divided into two parts with a central boulevard along the Creek (river). One part is more traditionial and honors Dubai's history and the other part is more modern. In total, Al Seef has 9 zones. Check out this map to see all the zones for the shops, restaurants and cafes. Recommendation: there is a floating market located in Al Seef, as well as a marina (with beautiful yachts).
