My favorite district in Prague is Vinohrady, which means vineyards because the area was once covered in vineyards dating from the 14th century.

First, this was a city itself and due to the popularity many people started to live here and in 1922 it became part of Prague. It is a beautiful residential area of Prague that carries a reputation of prestige and elegance. Most of the buildings are Neo-Renaissance, Art Nouveau, Pseudo Baroque, and Neo-Gothic style and were build in the second half of the 19th century and first half of the 20th century. The houses have amazing colours and architectural details.
It is understandable that the area attracts young proffesionals and expats, since it's outside the city centre but not too far away: during weekends it feels like you're escaping the touristic crowds in the old town and there is no need to go there either. Vinohrady has everything you need! Markets, modern restaurants, the highest amount of coffee specialty places, boutique stores and parks.
I love to spend our Saturdays & Sundays here: first buy some groceries at the Farmers Market, drink a coffee at the Coffee Room, have a lunch at Cafe Fin and playing card games in the Riegrovy Sady park with a view over the city.
