This beautiful neighbourhood used to be the Roman village and dates back over 2000 years. It is this mix of old and new that makes this ‘barri’ so special.

Everyone goes to the well known ramblas, with touristic attractions and prices. However, when you go into the side streets you will be suprised by the beauty of the Gotic area. The streets are narrow and you can get lost quit easily.
One of the main attractions, right in the heart of the district is the huge Cathedral which has a stunning courtyard full of plants. From 8AM to 12:45PM and 5:45PM. to 7:30PM visitation is free. Another one is Plaça Reial, filled with street lamps bade by Gaudi for his graduation project.
This square is great for going out too:
Idecar Factory Club (Plaça Reial, 7): anti-Karaoke nights and live music
Jamboree (Plaça Reial, 17): jazz concerts and later into the night, good hip-hop, funk and blues.
Ocaña (Plaça Reial, 13-15): underground disco!
Shopping is amazing in this neighborhood. The stores are located in historical buildings. Walking in the H&M suddenly feels like a museum! Tip: take a walk from the commercial area of Calle Portal de L’Angel to all the little boutiques on Calle Avinyo.
