If you would like to escape busy Barcelona, I definitely recommend you Sitges: a small seaside (and beautiful old) town with pretty beaches and great nightlife.

People also call it ‘the St. Tropez of Spain’. It is the perfect place for a short getaway, only 30 minutes by train (R2 Sud) from Renfe stations Sants, Franca and Passeig de Gracia (centrally located). The trains start running at 6:47 and leaves about every 20 minutes. The last train leaves at 22:25 to take you back from Sitges to Barcelona. A return ticket costs 8 euros.
What to do?
Go to some of the 17 beaches Sitges has, inside and outside of the town area!Watersports at clun Náutic de Sitges.Celebrating carnival (around February – March.
Apart from its beaches and the famous carnival, Sitges has to offer some cultural and historical places as well:
The baroque 17th century church ‘Iglesia de Sant Bartomeu’ one of Sitges’ most famous landmarks. It’s located on top of a small hill where you’ll have a beautiful view over the coastline. The 3 main museums in Sitges are: museo Romantic, museo Cau Ferrat and museo Maricel (the best one for instagrammable pictures!)
Shopping: in Sitges you will find an amazing selection of boutiques. Some of my favorite streets are: Calle Major, Carrer San Fransesc and Carrer Parellades. Wander around the small alleys and steep backstreets while looking at the beautiful houses. Many houses are coloured white and blue like you’re walking in Greece!
Food & drinks:
Although Sitges is a small seaside town, there is a wide range for cute hotspots:
Vita Breva with delicious coffee (who doesn’t love Nomad) and cake – FAV!
Alfresco, a romantic restaurant in a small alley
Yogart for a frozen yoghurt on a hot day
Beach House for a brunch at the beach
Coffee & cake for brunch (salads, juices), tapas and cocktails
Bed & Breakfast:
Gran Sitges Royal Rooms, close to the train station and located in a beautiful and historical building.
